The ECC was delighted to host a successful Over 50s lunch and social gathering, bringing together members of the community for a day of friendship, cultural celebration, and fellowship.

The event was well attended and provided a welcoming opportunity for older members of the community to meet, reconnect with friends, and enjoy each other’s company in a warm and friendly environment. Throughout the day, attendees shared stories, laughter, and conversations, creating a wonderful atmosphere of togetherness and community spirit.

A highlight of the event was the delicious selection of traditional dishes prepared by members of the community. The food reflected the rich cultural heritage of those attending and was enjoyed by everyone present. The dedication and generosity of the volunteers who prepared and served the meals helped make the day a memorable one.

Adding to the special atmosphere, attendees proudly wore traditional clothing, showcasing the beauty and diversity of their cultural traditions. The colourful attire contributed to the celebratory nature of the gathering and created a strong sense of pride, identity, and belonging among participants.

Members of the clergy were also in attendance and expressed their happiness at seeing so many people come together to enjoy fellowship and companionship. They welcomed the opportunity to engage with attendees and praised the importance of such events in strengthening community ties and supporting the wellbeing of older members of the community.

The gathering was not only an occasion to enjoy good food and conversation but also an opportunity to celebrate culture, friendship, and mutual support. Events such as these play an important role in reducing social isolation and fostering meaningful connections among community members.

The day concluded with a traditional coffee ceremony, a cherished cultural practice that brought everyone together for a final time before the event came to a close. Participants gathered to enjoy freshly prepared coffee while continuing conversations and reflecting on the day’s activities. The ceremony provided a fitting and memorable conclusion to a successful event.

The ECC would like to extend its sincere thanks to all the volunteers, organisers, and community members whose hard work and enthusiasm made the gathering possible. Their contributions helped create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all who attended.

We look forward to hosting more events in the future that bring people together, celebrate our shared heritage, and strengthen the bonds within our community.
