On Saturday 28 March 2026, we were delighted to host a comprehensive Safeguarding Course delivered by Mr. Goitom Mebrahtu, Head of Service at Outset Fostering Agency. The session brought together staff and volunteers for an important opportunity to strengthen knowledge, reflect on responsibilities, and reinforce best practices in safeguarding.
Safeguarding remains a fundamental priority in all our work, and this training provided valuable insights into how we can collectively create safer environments for children and young people.

Course Objectives
The session focused on several key areas, including:
• Building awareness of our individual and collective responsibilities in keeping children safe
• Developing a clear understanding of different forms of child abuse and neglect
• Identifying signs and indicators that may raise concerns
• Understanding the correct actions to take when concerns arise
• Learning how to respond appropriately to concerns and allegations
• Promoting safe practices that protect both children and volunteers
Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions and practical scenarios, helping to deepen their understanding and confidence in handling safeguarding situations. The training also highlighted the importance of vigilance, clear communication, and timely action when concerns are identified.
Key Message
At the heart of the session was a powerful and essential ethos:
“Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility!”

This message serves as a reminder that safeguarding is not limited to specific roles—it is a shared duty that requires awareness, commitment, and action from everyone involved.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Goitom Mebrahtu for delivering such an informative and engaging session, and to all participants for their active involvement and dedication to maintaining safe and supportive environments for children.
Together, we continue to build a culture where safety, care, and responsibility are at the forefront of everything we do.
